In Memory of Grandpa Kenny

The heart and soul behind Fishing with Kenny

The Man Who Taught Me to Fish

Grandpa Kenny wasn't just my grandfather—he was my mentor, my fishing buddy, and one of my best friends. Every summer, we'd wake up before the sun, pack our gear, and head out to the lake. Those quiet mornings on the water taught me more than just how to catch fish; they taught me patience, perseverance, and the value of spending time with the people you love.

Kenny had a way of making every fishing trip an adventure. Whether we caught anything or not didn't matter—it was about the stories he'd tell, the techniques he'd share, and the comfortable silences we'd share while waiting for a bite. He could read the water like a book and always seemed to know exactly where the fish would be hiding.

"The best time to go fishing is whenever you can."
- Something Grandpa Kenny would always say

More Than Just Fishing

While fishing was our special thing, Grandpa Kenny's influence extended far beyond the water's edge. He was a man of incredible character—honest, hardworking, and always ready with a joke or a helping hand. He taught me to appreciate nature, to respect the environment, and to always release the small ones so they could grow bigger for next time.

His workshop smelled of sawdust and motor oil, where he'd fix fishing reels and tie flies with the precision of a surgeon. He built my first tackle box from scratch, painted it my favorite color, and filled it with hand-selected lures that he knew would work in our local waters.

Lessons from the Lake

  • Patience isn't just about waiting—it's about enjoying the moment while you wait
  • The early bird might get the worm, but the early fisherman gets the best spot on the lake
  • Always help others on the water—today's stranger might be tomorrow's fishing buddy
  • Take care of your equipment, and it will take care of you
  • Sometimes the best catch of the day is the memory you make
  • Respect nature, and it will provide for you

Living On Through the Game

Creating "Fishing with Kenny" has been my way of preserving and sharing the incredible memories and lessons my grandfather gave me. Every character interaction, every fishing mechanic, and every peaceful moment by the virtual water is infused with the spirit of those real experiences we shared.

While Grandpa Kenny is no longer with us physically, his spirit lives on in this game. When players learn to fish from the in-game Grandpa Kenny, they're learning the same lessons he taught me. When they experience that excitement of catching their first big fish, they're feeling what we felt together on countless summer mornings.

This game is my love letter to him—a way to share his wisdom, humor, and passion for fishing with the world. I hope that through playing, others can experience just a fraction of the joy and peace that fishing with Kenny brought to my life.
